Beneficial Announcements for Dec 2013
1. Augusta Maine Planning Board Approves Mosque
A proposal to build the first mosque in the city was approved unanimously by the Planning Board two weeks ago. It was also strongly welcomed by representatives of the area’s established religions, including Catholics, Jews and Unitarians. The Islamic Society of Greater Augusta, a nonprofit group founded in 2009, won approval to build a 1,230 square-foot mosque, with seating for 70 people and parking for 21 cars, on St. Andrews Street a short dead-end street off South Belfast Avenue, on the city’s east side. The mosque has raised $95,000 but the total amount required is $155,000. That leaves a balance of nearly $60,000 left to raise. We seek the help of Allah and your financial contribution to start building. For questions and donations, contact Jamel at 207-485-5976, email: oneAllah@hotmail.com, Web: www.goisga.org
