Announcements Within Our Muslim Community
1. Please Make Dua for the Recovery of Malala Yousafzai
We are sadden to hear about the 14-year old young girl Malala Yousafzai from Swat, Pakistan who was shot in the head a couple of days ago by some guys from Taliban. This is a girl who had the courage to speak up for the education of girls in that part of the world. She started speaking against the Taliban since they invaded her neighborhood and started demolishing schools. Now she cannot speak while she lays in her hospital bed in serious condition. May Allah grant Malala Yousafzai a quick and good recovery to good health. Strangely, the guy who shot her says he will kill her if she survives. What kind of a knucklehead is this dude? What kind of Islam is he practicing? Does he really think he is pleasing Allah (swt) by doing such evil deeds? Being a father of a young girl who goes to school, I can’t imagine what are these guys are thinking when they carry out such actions. We condemn these kinds of evil actions. These are the very actions that make other people to think we are savages. (See next point).
2. Ad that says “ .. between Civilized man and the Savage”
There is a disturbing new Ad appearing in the public transportation in New York and San Francisco which carries the wordings, “In Any War Between the Civilized Man and the Savage, Support the Civilized Man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.” The Ad was paid for by the American Freedom Defense Institute, an anti-Muslim organization. Before the Ad was approved, it went to the court system at which a federal judge ruled that the DC transit system must allow the pro-Israel Ad that equates Muslim radicals with savages. In New York, U.S. District Judge Mary Collyer allowed the anti-jihad ads to go up in that city’s subway system last month. Debate over the ads flared two weeks ago against the backdrop of violent reaction in the Middle East to the online video, “Innocence of Muslims,” which denigrated the Prophet Muhammad.

“Muhammad (saw) – Mercy to Mankind”
Join our webinar with ISNA President Imam Mohamed Magid to learn and understand the noble character of our beloved Prophet (saw). The Qur’an affirms the Prophet (saw) was bestowed with an exalted character, “And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character (68:4)” This webinar will discuss those qualities and the standards our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) practiced and taught us. It will also focus on applying mercy and compassion in our lives in dealing with one another on a daily basis in order to improve our societies and our place with Allah. Muslims in America and worldwide are deeply disturbed by the appearance of an offensive video that depicts the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a very profane manner.
