1. New Islamic New Year 1435
The new Islamic year 1435, and the first month of Muharram started on Tuesday, Nov 5 based on local moon sightings. May Allah bring goodness and blessings to all Muslims with this new year. The 10th of Muharram (Ashura) will be on Thursday, Nov 14, 2013. Muslims are encouraged to fast on that day.

2. Al-Huda Society Looking for A Cook
Al-Huda Society in Chelsea, MA is looking for a cook to prepare lunch for after Jummah sale and bake pastries for Saturdays. Paid on hourly basis. It is also looking for volunteers to teach Arabic language to non-arab adults, 2 hours a week. And a sister to lead the English halaqa for sisters. This Qur’an competition is for ALL ages. We have 5 divisions for the competition: Group I – age 20+ Surah Al-Kahf; Group 2 – age 15-19, Surah Al-Rahman; Group 3 – age 10-14, Surah Al-Mulk; Group 4 – age 6-9, Surah Al-Naba’; Group 5 – age 5 and younger, free to choose any surah. We recommend parents to take advantage of this event to get their children involved in reciting and memorizing the word of Allah.
