1. First Day of Rajab According To Local Moonsighting
The Crescent Moon to commence the month of Rajab 1437 AH was looked for after the sunset on Thursday, 7th April 2016.  Reports from all Sub Committees of CHC, both local and regional, have unanimously confirmed that the moon was Not sighted. The Central Hilal Committee of North America has accepted these reports and has declared, that the month of Jumada-al-Ukhra 1437 AH will complete it’s 30 days, thus making Saturday, April 9th, 2016, the 1st day of Rajab 1437 AH.

This week Sheikh Yasir will be discussing ikhtilaf, the ethics of disagreement. Shaykh Yasir will be sharing with us stories of scholarly disagreement from our tradition and how these disagreements formed the ethics that should guide us today. Our key learnings will be: Disagreement is a necessary and natural virtue that we must celebrate, How to disagree so that disagreement is source of richness and growth as opposed to weakness, What is a recognized/genuine disagreement and what is not. This all day event will feature seminars and lectures for adults, recitation from famous and local Qaris, activities for youth/children and a bazaar.  The competition is open to all from New England and beyond including, but not limited to, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Road Island and Vermont. “Youth/Parent Speakers Workshop”
This workshop is intended to provide valuable training opportunities to any adult and youth within our community who would like to learn how to give effective presentations on Islam to the interfaith public. Youth includes any children in grades 6-12. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 50 youth and all youth must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Deadline for payment and registration is Sunday April 17, 2016.
